Job Description
Nexus Build and Consultants is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage construction projects from initiation to completion. The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all construction work is completed on time, within budget, and according to project specifications. This role requires leadership, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of construction processes, including safety regulations, quality control, and team coordination.
As a Construction Manager at Nexus Build and Consultants, you will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Project Planning and Coordination:
Develop comprehensive construction plans, including project schedules, resource allocation, and timelines.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other consultants to develop project specifications and ensure alignment with client expectations.
Ensure that all construction activities align with budget, scope, and quality standards.
II. Team and Contractor Management:
Lead and supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth operations on the job site.
Manage and coordinate the daily construction activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Hire, train, and evaluate construction staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
III. Quality Control and Safety Management:
Ensure that all construction work meets quality standards and complies with project specifications.
Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on site.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with regulations.
IV. Budget and Cost Management:
Monitor project budgets, track costs, and ensure that all expenses stay within the approved limits.
Review and approve purchase orders, equipment rentals, and subcontractor invoices.
Identify and address any potential cost overruns early in the project and propose solutions to stay within budget.
V. Schedule Management:
Develop and manage detailed project timelines, ensuring that all tasks are completed within the established deadlines.
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Adjust project schedules as necessary to accommodate unforeseen delays or changes.
VI. Client Communication and Reporting:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on construction-related matters.
Regularly update clients and project stakeholders on progress, potential issues, and changes.
Address any concerns or requests from clients in a timely and professional manner.
VII. Risk Management:
Identify potential risks to the project's timeline, budget, or safety and implement strategies to mitigate those risks.
Manage any project-related issues or conflicts that arise on the job site, finding effective solutions.
VIII. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, safety reports, and progress reports.
Submit regular reports to senior management regarding project status, challenges, and accomplishments.
Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or 10 years of experience as a construction manager, may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Associate Constructor (AC) are preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
- Experience in both residential and commercial construction projects is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in managing construction sites, including coordinating workers, contractors, and suppliers.
Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise diverse teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, and contractors.

- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and at construction sites.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
- Strong understanding of local zoning laws, building codes, and health & safety standards.
- Ability to handle the pressures of project deadlines and client expectations.
