Job Description
Nexus Build and Consultants is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team. As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of structural systems for a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This role requires a deep understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure safe, cost-effective, and efficient structural designs that meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural design and analysis, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Structural Design and Analysis:
Design and analyze structural systems (e.g., foundations, beams, columns, roofs) for buildings and other infrastructure projects, ensuring structural integrity and safety.
Use structural engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, SAP2000) to create models and drawings.
Perform load calculations, stress analysis, and simulations to ensure designs meet required codes and standards.
II. Collaboration with Design Teams:
Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with other building systems.
Provide structural input during the design phase to ensure that all aspects of the building's structure are functional, efficient, and aligned with project goals.
Provide technical expertise during the review of architectural and MEP designs to identify any potential structural issues or constraints.
III. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure that all designs comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
Maintain an understanding of local and national structural safety standards and best practices.
Verify that materials and construction methods are in line with the design and comply with safety standards.
IV. Site Inspections and Construction Support:
Conduct site visits to review construction progress and ensure that structural elements are being constructed according to approved plans and specifications.
Work with contractors and project managers to troubleshoot and resolve any construction issues that may arise on-site.
Provide ongoing support during the construction phase, offering technical guidance and adjusting designs as needed based on field conditions.
V. Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
Perform quality checks and review structural designs to ensure that they meet required specifications and are free from errors or inconsistencies.
Identify potential risks in structural designs or on-site execution and implement mitigation strategies.
Provide recommendations for improving construction efficiency and reducing costs while maintaining structural integrity.
VI. Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and review detailed structural calculations, reports, and specifications.
Maintain accurate records of design changes, inspections, and project communications.
Prepare technical documentation for permits, approvals, and regulatory compliance.
VII. Project Coordination and Client Interaction:
Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders regarding structural design and progress.
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and project timelines for structural components.
Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all client expectations.
